Sarah Fairchild’s Cruciferous celebrates the unexpectedly beautiful cabbage, whose proliferation of new life is embodied in how it grows. Once a head of cabbage is harvested, if the base is left abandoned and untouched, it allows for a second harvest of multiple new heads of cabbage to bloom. These colorful blooms are a reminder of the coming season, full of renewal and growth. Cruciferous, adapted from two of Fairchild’s original paintings, brings the promise of things yet to unfold. The dynamic forms, grand scale and rich colors transport viewers into a psychedelic spring.
